Southeast of Warsaw, the road follows a deepening cultural and landscape story. Kazimierz Dolny begins above the Vistula with Renaissance merchant architecture, Lublin needs two nights for its layered old city, and Zamość turns an ideal Renaissance plan into lived urban space. Zwierzyniec then opens the gate to Roztocze’s forest, ponds and trails.
This route carries difficult history as well as beauty. Visit memorial sites with time and context, never as a roadside checkbox. Roztocze access depends on weather, fire risk and conservation rules; use signed trailheads and return from forest areas before dark.

Warsaw, officially the Capital City of Warsaw, is the capital and most populous city of Poland. The metropolis stands on the River Vistula in east-central Poland. Its population is officially estimated at 1.86 million residents within a greater metropolitan area of 3.27 million residents, which makes Warsaw the 7th most populous city in the European Union.

Kazimierz Dolny is a small historic town in eastern Poland, on the right (eastern) bank of the Vistula river, 50 km (31 mi) from Lublin, in Puławy County, Lublin Voivodeship. Historically it belongs to Lesser Poland, and in the past it was one of the most important cities of the province. Now a tourist destination, the town enjoyed its greatest prosperity in the 16th and the first half of the 17th century, due to the trade in grain conducted along the Vistula.

Lublin is the eighth-largest city in Poland and the second-largest city of historical Lesser Poland. It is the capital and the centre of Lublin Voivodeship with a population of 336,339 (December 2021). Lublin is the largest Polish city east of the Vistula River, located 153 km (95 mi) southeast of Warsaw.

Zamość (Polish:; Yiddish: זאמאשטש, romanized: Zamoshtsh; Latin: Zamoscia) is a historical city in southeastern Poland. It is situated in the southern part of Lublin Voivodeship, about 90 km (56 mi) from Lublin, 247 km (153 mi) from Warsaw. In 2021, the population of Zamość was 62,021.

Zwierzyniec (Polish: ) is a town on the Wieprz river in the Zamość County, Lublin Voivodeship, Poland. It has 3,324 inhabitants (2004). Zwierzyniec is the northernmost town of the Roztocze National Park.

Roztocze National Park (Polish: Roztoczański Park Narodowy) is a national park in Lublin Voivodeship of southeastern Poland. It protects the most valuable natural areas of the middle part of the Roztocze range. Its current size is 84.83 km2 (32.75 sq mi), of which forests occupy 81.02 km2, and strictly protected areas 8.06 km2.
